Peels. From one of my go-to’s Freeman’s. I have tried to go here for brunch a THOUSAND times. The wait is always at least two hours and I am always impatient. Well, I flew back from Michigan on Labor Day and they were serving breakfast (as they do) and I went with two girlies of mine and we were quoted an hour but probably only waited half. And now I know why everyone goes to Peels.
First of all it’s BEAUTIFUL. The upstairs is. Downstairs is kind of crowded, but upstairs is very airy and very bright:
Unsurprisingly, this picture does not exactly do it justice. They also have a very nice bake case on the first floor with lots of goodies like homemade oreos, called “peelios” that I willed myself not to buy on my way out.
And now we shall talk about brunch:
Roasted tomato benedict on their famous biscuits. Sometimes I think I should just make this a brunch blog because brunch is one of the best things to photograph. At least to me.
This is a build-a-biscuit with egg, cheddar cheese, bacon, and avocado. Get it, girl.
And Missy sharing the cheesey grits:
I’m so glad my friends know how to share.
And finally, a picture of my girlcakes Melissa who thinks I only ever take pictures of her holding a fork:
And in case you’re wondering what *I* ate, you’ll have to scroll back to the top for my “iron sides” – skillet eggs, summer succotash, crumbled cornbread, spinach, and pepperjack cheese.
I love brunch.
